Some of the change in Windows XP is the user interface, which includes a revised Start menu and updated Task Bar. The new look is possible because Windows XP can be skinned, which lets the interface be changed dramatically with a new facility called themes. (Memory Support and Windows Operating Systems)
Windows XP shows fast user switching, which allows multiple users to be logged onto their own sessions at the same time on the same machine and, as the name implies, they can switch back and forth quickly. Another new feature, ClearType, is discussed.
Compared to 32-bit systems, which top out at around 3GB of memory, 64-bit PCs offer added responsiveness for people who are running a lot of applications at the same time and switching between them frequently.

The Maximum amount of memory that can be supported on Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 is 4 GB. It is split into 2GB and 2GB for different areas. The address space is usually split so that 2 GB of address space is directly accessible to the application and the other 2 GB is only accessible to the Windows executive software. It was released on October 25th 2001. The cost is about $90 and up.

There are advantages and disadvantages however I will just tell you some of the advantages.

The appearance of window, desktop, start button, start menu, taskbar, everything got a new look.

Browsing the net without any security measures invites a major danger. Windows Vista provides high level of security measures. Windows Vista comes with the latest version of Internet Explorer which is version 7.0. It provides a higher degree of security to the system.

3. Manage your knotty kids, using parental controls

4. Play multimedia contents using latest media player

5. Improved search, Windows Explorer

6. Date and time, know the difference in time across the world

The maximum memory is 4GB and it runs 32 bit and 64bit. It is said to be released onreleased January 30th 2007. Windows Vista is about $129  .

Ubuntu Linux

Ubuntu is a community developed Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need – a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more. Ubuntu is guaranteed to be cost-free. Ubuntu also works in a 32bit and for 64 bit. It can also hold up to 4GB of RAM. The release was set to be October 20, 2004.

Mac OSX

Mac OS X is a uniquely powerful development platform, bringing a 32-bit and 64-bit architecture and multiprocessor capability to the desktop and server arenas. Runs 32 bit and 64 bit. Its maximum capacity of RAM is 4 GB. The release was set to be December 15, 2008.

BeOS

The most useful advantages BeOS offered the end user were memory and space efficiency. It is rarely used and has lost. It runs with 32 bit and can run with 1 GB of Ram. The price is about $ 70.
